Since 1989, real estate development at DreamKey Partners has been a genuine labor of love involving trusted partnerships with individuals, companies, organizations, foundations, and government agencies. Our development work includes neighborhood and housing revitalization as well as ground-up single-family and multi-family housing communities.

We are a full-service real estate development organization focused on affordable housing that oversees land and acquisition, design and entitlement, capital sources, construction, and management. We also include listening sessions with neighborhood leaders and residents as a critical component of our development process.

DreamKey Partners has more than $367 million in real estate investments and 570 for-sale and for-rent homes currently under development.

Development Spotlight

Aveline at Coulwood is on the Northwest side of Charlotte! Unique in its creation, this community helps fulfill the need for affordable, single-family homes 🏠. Our Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Real Estate, Fred Dodson, Jr., says it best, “Adopting the Aveline brand has allowed us to put a stamp on building for-sale homes. This is what we do and what we’ll continue to do – it’s part of our legacy. In the past, we relied on the market to provide affordable housing, but that’s not the case anymore, so we’ll do it ourselves.”

Seversville Apartments. One of our first neighborhoods and tax credit developments in Mecklenburg County, this multifamily community has 47, 1-and 2-bedroom units. Seversville provides a fully-equipped kitchen, private patio/balcony, playground, community center, and more. It’s the only affordable housing in, what is now, a gentrified neighborhood.

Crown Court

Crown Court. Offers 103 apartment units for seniors aged 55+. This development is named in memory of Nancy Crown, an affordable housing advocate and previous board member. Located on Nolley Road north of Matthews, these apartment homes offer premium finishes, open floor plans, and amenities such as a fitness center, raised garden beds for resident planting, a community room and more.


The Mezzanine. This 185-unit, multifamily apartment development is located at Freedom Drive and is a mixed-income property serving both affordable and market-rate housing. Located within minutes of Charlotte Douglas International Airport and I-85. The Mezzanine provides modern conveniences such as a laundry center, fitness and weight-training center, and clubhouse.

Tyvola Crossing

Tyvola Crossing/Tyvola Phase II. Tyvola Crossing includes 80 multifamily, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, conveniently located minutes from Uptown Charlotte. These apartment homes offer fully-equipped modern kitchens, full-sized laundry connections, spacious closets and private balconies/patios. The development also includes a playground and resident business center. Tyvola Phase II provides 20 additional apartments for veterans.

Alexander Apartments

Alexander Apartments. Just minutes from Uptown Charlotte, Alexander Apartment Homes are a planned, thriving community with 6-multifamily units and onsite daycare, elevating the experience for its residents and the community.

Hearthside Club LaFayette

Hearthside Club Lafayette. Hearthside offers 125 apartment homes for active adults aged 62+ in Fayetteville, Georgia. This property fosters a sense of community amount its residents, with regularly scheduled events planned for the Resident Lounge, fitness programs, a game room and an outdoor courtyard. The 2- and 3-bedroom units feature premium finishes and spacious floorplans. Hearthside was developed as a joint venture with Onestreet Residential based in Atlanta.
